As a tenant, there’s nothing you need to do once your landlord registers your property with House Tag

Your homes important documents are available to view, at point-of-need.

What is a House Tag?

House Tag is a solution that delivers mandatory and essential documentation to home-users at the point-of-need. It negates the need for landlords to send paper or email copies of certificates and avoids complex portals with restrictive logins. House Tag delivers current certifications 24 hours a day.

As a tenant of a landlord or organisation that subscribes to House Tag you will get a unique tag installed on the consumer unit (fuse box) within your property. This is usually installed on a routine visit by an agent of your landlord such as a gas or electrical contractor. In some cases your landlord may instruct the House Tag field team to make contact with you and install the tag. Installation takes less than 5 minutes and requires nothing from you except access to the consumer unit.

As a home-user you have peace of mind that House Tag is anonymous and does not collect any of your personal details, should your details appear on any uploaded documents your landlord has the ability to anonymise these also. Best of all House Tag is 100% free for home-users whilst your landlord is subscribed.

How does House Tag work in my home?

Once House Tag is installed in your home you will have instant access to any documents or certificates that your landlord has approved for you. To access information about your property there are no apps or complicated portals to navigate, simply use any internet enabled device with a camera, such as a mobile phone or tablet.

To scan the tag:

  • Open the camera app on your device
  • Point towards the QR code on the House Tag
  • A prompt to view a webpage will appear (actual sequence varies by device) touch this prompt to open the page
  • Enter the postcode of your property when prompted
  • Any current and approved documents and certificates will be shown on screen

Any certificate can be viewed and if required downloaded by touching the appropriate document and following the on screen prompts.

Whilst over 93% of households have direct access to the technology required to access the tag information (according to the 2021 UK Census) we appreciate some may not. In this scenario please ask a relative, friend, neighbour or care giver to help, rest assured there is no sensitive information contained within House Tag.
