What is Awaab’s Law….
Awaab’s Law, which came into force on 27th October 2025, aims to protect social housing tenants from dangerous conditions such as damp and mould. This legislation requires social landlords to address reported issues within strict timeframes, focusing initially on damp and mould before expanding to other housing hazards in 2026. The law was inspired by the tragic death of Awaab Ishak, a two-year-old who died due to prolonged exposure to mould, and it seeks to improve living conditions for tenants in England’s social rented homes.
How House Tag can help….
With the introduction of Awaab’s Law a new feature has been introduced into the House Tag repository that enables the upload and reporting of Damp & Mould condition reports.
This new feature was developed to allow the landlords organisation to leverage their contractors, who routinely visit homes, to upload simple reports/images and assign a simple detected flag to homes showing any signs of damp and/or mould. This acts as an early warning system for any potential cases and allows the organisation to take preventative actions before the damp and/or mould spreads or increases in velocity.
Over time additional reports can be added which offers vital evidence to an organisation of the period when damp and/or mould may have started to develop.
How do I get this functionality….
This new feature is available to all existing House Tag subscribers at no additional cost.
